Edward VII was the great grandfather of Elizabeth II. His reign began in 1901 after the death of his mother, Queen Victoria, until his death in 1910. Due to his mothers long reign, which was the longest before Elizabeth II’s reign, Edward VII was apparent heir to the throne for almost 60 years.

The ‘Edwardian era’ refers to the reign of Edward VII.
