James I,
Six Pence,
Silver,
1567-1625
In 1567, James was only 13 months when his mother, Mary Queens of Scots, became abdicated and he gained King status. Mary was held in captivity for almost 20 years before she was beheaded by Elizabeth I. Elizabeth had her killed because Mary was a threat to her throne which is ironic because after Elizabeth passed in 1603 with no heir, James I, ended up taking the throne after her.
James I of England, also known as James IV of Scotland.
